FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ballots for 2019 Primary in the mail by July 19

PORT ORCHARD – Kitsap voters who live in areas with primaries have had a chance to read candidate statements for two weeks and will have their ballots mailed to them next week.

Ballots for the August 6, 2019, Primary will be mailed to approximately 93,000 Kitsap residents. Most residents should see their ballots by Saturday, July 20.

The Local Voters’ Pamphlet was mailed the last Friday in June and is also available online at kcowa.us/lvp.

“It’s always great to see residents engaged in their local districts. The fact that we have six primary races speaks well of our citizens,” said Paul Andrews, Kitsap County Auditor.

No postage will be required for voters returning ballots by mail, but ballots should be returned early to ensure they are postmarked on time. “Obviously we’re not expecting snow in the days before election day, but that experience in February can be a reminder to all of us that there are good reasons to vote as soon as you can once you get your ballot,” Andrews said.

During the last two weeks in July, Elections staff will host mobile voting locations in different parts of the county. Residents can receive and return ballots, or use Accessible Voting Units, which assist voters with disabilities. The mobile voting schedule and a list of ballot drop boxes are available in the voters’ pamphlet and at kcowa.us/vote.

Online and mail registrations and address changes must be received by July 29th. Residents can register to vote in person at the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office, 619 Division Street in Port Orchard from 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday and from 7am to 8pm on Election Day. Residents can also register to vote at the Olympic College Vote Center, 1000 Olympic College Way NW, Poulsbo, from 7am to 8pm on Election day.

Ballots must be returned to one of the county’s drop boxes by 8 p.m. on August 6, or postmarked by that day.
