Judge Shane R. Seaman
Shane R. Seaman was elected to Kitsap County District Court in 2022. Judge Seaman was raised in Port Orchard, attended Olympic College and then joined the United States Coast Guard in 1996 serving 4 years active and 4 years as a reservist. While serving in the Coast Guard, Judge Seaman finished a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Excelsior College, NY. He then attended Gonzaga University Law School; obtaining a Juris Doctorate in Law in 2004. Judge Seaman worked as a felony prosecutor in Port Townsend Washington until he went into private practice in 2006, handling criminal defense cases and civil litigation.
Judge Seaman opened a private practice in Poulsbo Washington in 2011, practicing real estate litigation, land use, probate litigation, and business law. As an attorney Judge Seaman litigated cases at every level of the Court system in Washington State: Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington, Municipal Court, District Court, Superior Court, Court of Appeals Division II and the Washington State Supreme Court. Judge Seaman was appointed the Court Commissioner for Bremerton Municipal Court in 2013 and has been a member of the District and Municipal Court Judges Association since appointment. Prior to being elected to the Kitsap District Court bench, Judge Seaman actively sat as a Judge Pro Tem for Kitsap County District Court, the Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, and Poulsbo Municipal Courts and has served in Port Orchard Municipal and Jefferson County District Courts.
Judge Seaman has extensive community and volunteer involvement including North Kitsap Poulsbo Rotary Club (Former Poulsbo North Kitsap Rotary Foundation President), North Kitsap High School Band parent volunteer, Kitsap Children's Musical Theater volunteer, Coach for the North Kitsap Soccer Club, Member Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce, Olympic Community Actions Program (OlyCap) Board member, Jefferson County Bar(former President), Kitsap County Bar, and Executive Committee Member, Washington State Bar Association Litigation Section. Judge Seaman is married and has two daughters, enjoys fishing and hiking and loves the Kitsap Peninsula.
