What are we doing?
In late October 2023, Kitsap County Community Development solicited a Request for Proposals (RFP) "from qualified consulting firms to review and provide recommendations for improvements to predictability, process efficiency, and overall timeliness of the permitting process." This was also a need identified in the December 2023 customer service survey. The department has been working together with the professional consultant through an evaluation of the current processes and interviews and has moved on to recommendations.
Furthermore, Senate Bill 5290, passed in the 2023-2024 regular session, indicates a timeline for permits that jurisdictions must meet beginning January 2025.
Who's involved?
This process has included community members, industry professionals, Community Development staff, and staff from other organizations involved in the permitting process, working together with the professional consultant and being overseen by the Board of County Commissioners.
Below, you can review the overall project timeline and documents related to the process, including recommendations and planning documents. Be sure to check back often. We will continue to update the information as we proceed. If interested, you can submit comments, questions, or concerns in the feedback form at the bottom of the page.
