Agency History
Kitsap ALTC is a division of the Department of Personnel and Human
Services of Kitsap County Government, with the Board of County Commissioners
serving as the recognized Area Agency on Aging for Planning and Service Area
(PSA) 13 of Washington State. Kitsap ALTC was created through the collaborative
action of citizens, aging network service providers and the Kitsap Board of
County Commissioners in 1980. Prior to 1980, Kitsap County was included as part
of the Pierce County Area Agency on Aging. The Kitsap ALTC Advisory Council,
with representation by citizens from all three Commissioner districts, makes
recommendations as to programs and services to the Kitsap ALTC. The agency
operates two offices in the county: the primary office located in the Givens Community Center in Port Orchard
and the Family Caregiver Support Center
located in Silverdale.
