About the Severe Weather Shelters
The severe weather shelter program provides safe warm beds to stay overnight for people in need during severe weather events November 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025 at three locations in Port Orchard, Silverdale and Kingston. These shelters are available for single adults parents with children, families, and teens.

The shelters will open if the following conditions are met:

• if temperatures are expected to be at or below 32 degrees for four or more hours and one or more successive days and/or

• if snow accumulation is expected to exceed one inch or more for more than two days and/or

• if there are two or more successive days of one inch or more of rain.

• shelters may also activate when high wind warnings are issued.

Opening a shelter is also dependent on the shelter being fully staffed by volunteers for the night. The weather is monitored for severe weather conditions by Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management.

Free rides to the closest shelter are available on an activation day.
Call G2G2 at 360-373-3000 to arrange for a ride before 7:00 p.m.
