Recycling exemption for seniors and disabled persons with limited income
Recycling collection is automatically included with garbage services in unincorporated Kitsap County. This is required by county code.
However, senior citizens with limited income and disabled persons with limited income may apply to Kitsap County to cancel your curbside recycling service while keeping your garbage service.
If your application is approved by Kitsap County, you will not receive or pay for curbside recycling service. WM will remove your recycling cart. You may continue to recycle at drop-off facilities for no charge.
Eligibility Requirements
Property owners
Property owners must first receive a property tax exemption from the Kitsap County Assessor. Once you have received your tax exemption, you may apply to Kitsap County Solid Waste Division to cancel your recycling service. The Division will notify WM on your behalf, and WM will remove your recycling cart.
Renters
Renters must complete a separate application and meet certain age, disability, income, and other requirements.
