Vehicle limitations

Waste must be unloaded by hand. No tipping.

Unsecured loads

Customers who arrive with an unsecured vehicle load are charged a $10 unsecured load fee. Aviso en español.


 Disposal and recycle fees

Fees effective January 2026. Fees are based on size and volume of waste, not weight.

Washington solid waste collection tax (3.6%) is applied to waste transactions, except for recyclable waste and unsecured/uncovered load fees.

  • Garbage, solid waste:
    $15 for first can, tax included.
    $9 for each additional can, tax included.
    32 gallons = 1 can, 64 gallons = 2 cans, 96 gallons = 3 cans

  • Garbage – loose: $56.01 per cubic yard, plus tax

  • Mattress, box spring, recliner: $17 each, plus tax​​

  • Sofa: $67 each, plus tax

  • Sofa with bed or recliner: $77 each, plus tax

  • Roofing, drywall: $117 per cubic yard, plus tax. Non-asbestos only.

  • Appliances: $29 each, recycled
    Accepted appliances: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dryers, dishwashers, heat pumps, ice machines, residential HVAC units, refrigerators, residential furnaces (without asbestos insulation), trash compactors, stoves, ovens, washers, water coolers, water softeners, water heaters, and well water pressure tanks. Must be empty. No commercial appliances. Customer must unload.​

  • Unsecured/uncovered load fee: $10 per unsecured vehicle load

 Recycle

Olalla Recycling and Garbage Facility recycling area  

​Recyclables must be empty, clean, dry, and loose. No bagged recyclables. 

Accepted in self-service recycle yard for free:

  • Plastic bottles, jugs, jars, and dairy tubs (no lids)

  • Cardboard (flattened)

  • Paper - mail, magazines and catalogs, newspaper, office paper, phone books, paperboard boxes, etc.

  • Metal cans (no loose lids)

  • Glass bottles and jars (no lids)

  • Scrap metal (must lift into container and contain no fluid, batteries, or vehicle parts)

  • Clothing (dry)

  • Cooking oil - before recycling, filter​ the oil at home to remove food scraps and solid fats. Place solid fats and food particles in the garbage

 Limited household hazardous waste

Accepted in self-service recycle yard for free

  • Small household batteries (alkaline, button, lithium, rechargeable)

Check-in with staff for free disposal

  • Vehicle batteries less than 50 pounds

  • Antifreeze from personal vehicles - limit five gallons per day

  • Motor oil from personal vehicles - limit five gallons per day

  • Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) - no limit

  • Sharps/needle containers - limit three per day. 
    Sharps must be placed inside a puncture proof plastic container before disposal. Approved containers include an FDA-approved sharps container (quart size preferred), laundry soap container with a screw cap, or a hard plastic bottle with a screw cap (such as a Gatorade bottle). Only fill up the container 3/4 full and label all containers with "Sharps-Biohazard". Notify staff that you have sharps for disposal when you arrive.

  • No hazardous or dangerous wastes other than those limited items accepted from households

  • No hot or unsoaked ash, briquettes, coal, or fireworks

  • No items containing liquid or fluid

  • No liquids

  • No medication

  • No TVs, computers, monitors, laptops, tablets, e-readers, portable DVD players

  • No oil or latex-based paint, stain, or solvent

  • No pressurized tanks

  • No radioactive materials

  • No sharps in unapproved containers

  • No sharps from commercial customers

  • No tires

  • No vehicles, vehicle parts, motors, engine parts, riding lawnmowers, trailers

  • No creosote-treated lumber. Must have an approved ​WM waste profile and dispose of the lumber at Olympic View Transfer Station.
