Elections Division seeks volunteer writers for voters’ pamphlet arguments.
PORT ORCHARD – The Auditor's Office is seeking individuals to serve on committees to draft voters' pamphlet arguments against proposed ballot measures submitted by four different districts, according to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280.
• South Kitsap School District is proposing two measures, one a property tax levy and the other a levy for general obligation bonds. Both are for capital projects.
• Central Kitsap Fire District is proposing a property tax lid lift.
• Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 18 (Poulsbo Fire Department) is also proposing a property tax lid lift.
• North Kitsap Fire & Rescue is requesting a property tax levy for ongoing maintenance and operations.
The General Election Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals. Committees writing arguments in favor of each measure were already appointed by the districts.
Committee members do not have to be residents of the district to draft arguments. Interested parties should contact the Elections Division by 4:30 p.m., August 20. Please email auditor@co.kitsap.wa.us or call 360-337-7128 if interested.
Resolutions submitted by the districts for each measure are on the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor’s website.
