PORT ORCHARD – The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division seeks volunteers to write arguments against two Bainbridge Island School District ballot measures appearing on the February 13, 2024 Special Election ballot.
One measure renews an enrichment and operations levy. The other renews a technology levy.
Committee members must be residents of Bainbridge Island to draft arguments. Interested parties should contact the Elections Division by Monday, Dec. 18. Please email auditor@kitsap.gov, or call 360-337-7128 (press 1) if interested. Arguments are due by Dec. 22. Rebuttals are due Dec. 28.
According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. When they are unable, the Kitsap County Elections Office seeks writers.
The General Election Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.
Resolutions submitted by the districts for each measure are at the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor's website.
The format for writing arguments can be found on page 16 and 17 in the Candidate and Guidelines Measures Guidelines Book.
