Writers needed for three ballot measure arguments
May 3, 2024
PORT ORCHARD – The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division seeks volunteers in three different fire districts to write arguments against ballot measures in those districts.
Voters living in the boundaries of the North Kitsap Fire District, Poulsbo Fire and Central Kitsap Fire will have funding measures on their August 6 Primary ballots.
If you are a resident of one of those districts and would be willing to write an argument against the measure, please contact our office by Wednesday, May 8. Committee members must be residents of a district to draft arguments for the Local Voters' Pamphlet.
Interested parties should contact the Elections Division by Wednesday, May 8. Please email auditor@kitsap.gov, or call 360-337-7128 (press 1) if interested.
Arguments are due by May 13. Rebuttals are due by May 16.
According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. When they are unable, the Kitsap County Elections Office seeks writers.
The Primary Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.
Resolutions submitted by the districts for each measure are at the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor's website.
The format for writing arguments can be found on page 14 and 15 in the Candidate and Guidelines Measures Guidelines Book.
