Kitsap County Judges are elected in even-numbered years. Superior Court Judges are elected in presidential election years.. District Court Judges are elected in non-presidential even-numbered years, also known as midterm election years. Terms are four years and all races are nonpartisan. If only one candidate files to run for a judge position, that candidate is considered elected and the term begins the second Monday in January after the election.
Mayors, municipal court judges and city council members are elected in odd-numbered years. They are elected to 4-year terms, unless the council position is a two-year position. All races are nonpartisan. Terms begin the January 1 after they are elected.
School District elections are in odd-numbered years. Directors are elected to four-year terms. All races are nonpartisan. Directors are sworn in during the first meeting after the election is certified.
Fire District elections are in odd-numbered years. Commissioners are elected to six-year terms. All races are nonpartisan.
Port District elections are in odd-numbered years. Commissioners are elected to six-year terms, except for the Port of Manchester. All races are nonpartisan.
Utility District elections are in odd-numbered years. Commissioners are elected to six-year terms. All races are nonpartisan.
Water District elections are in odd-numbered years. Commissioners are elected to six-year terms. All races are nonpartisan.
Park District elections are in odd-numbered years. Commissioners are elected to 6-year terms. All races are nonpartisan.
Members of the U.S. Senate are elected to six-year terms by voters throughout the state of Washington. Kitsap's representative (Congressional District 6) in the U.S. House of Representatives is elected to a two-year term by voters in Kitsap, Pierce, Jefferson, Clallam, Mason and Grays Harbor counties. All races are partisan. Members take office on the January 3rd after the election, unless otherwise legislated.
Officials elected to statewide are elected during presidential election years to four-year terms by voters throughout the state. All offices are partisan, except for the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Terms begin the Wednesday after the second Monday in the January after the election.
Members of the State Legislature are elected during even-numbered years. State Senators are elected to four-year terms and State Representatives are elected for two-year terms. Terms begin the second Monday in the January after the election.
